Program Overview

How Our Program Works

Michigan Cyber Academy (MCA) offers a fully online, alternative pathway to a Michigan high school diploma. Designed for students ages 14–21 who may not thrive in a traditional school setting, our program makes education accessible, supportive, and flexible — without sacrificing quality.

100% Online Learning

All classes, assignments, and exams happen through our secure online learning platform. Students log in with their own device to access lessons, complete coursework, and submit assignments. This allows learning from anywhere in Michigan, with full teacher oversight, support and guidance.

Flexible Schedule

Students are not bound to a fixed school day. Coursework can be completed in the morning, afternoon, evening, or weekends — whenever it fits into a student’s routine. This flexibility helps students balance school with jobs, family responsibilities, or personal needs while still staying on track toward graduation.

Self-Paced Process

Students complete courses by working on assignments, quizzes, & exams online. While there are clear requirements for each class, students decide when to complete their work and how quickly to move through the material. This allows them to progress at their own speed while still earning credit toward graduation.

Teacher Support

Students can connect with teachers through messaging, calls, or virtual meetings whenever they need help. Teachers grade assignments, give feedback, and guide students through each course while keeping parents involved as an important part of every student’s success.

Graduation Plan

When students enroll, MCA reviews their transcripts to create a custom graduation plan. This shows exactly which classes are required to earn a Michigan diploma. The plan keeps students focused on their goals and helps ensure they finish all needed courses to graduate successfully.

Technology Access

Students need a computer or tablet with reliable internet to participate. All coursework, assignments, and teacher communication happen online. MCA offers support to families, and in some cases, devices or resources may be provided to help ensure every student can stay connected.

Tuition-Free Public Education

What Tuition-Free Means

Michigan Cyber Academy is a public high school program offered through Hazel Park Schools, which means there is no tuition cost for families. As long as students meet the enrollment requirements — Michigan residency, age 14–21, — there is no cost to families.

Because we are a public school, students earn a high school diploma upon graduation, not a GED. MCA provides the same accredited education as a traditional school, delivered 100% online, with certified teachers and full academic support.
